The Marymoor Radio Control Club (MAR/C) promotes the recreational hobby/sport of radio controlled model aircraft flying. MAR/C manages and maintains the model airfield at Marymoor Park, Redmond, WA, in accordance with a Use Agreement with King County Parks Division. Founded in 1980, MAR/C continues a tradition of flying model airplanes at this site dating back to the early 1960's.
The club hosts flight training in the summer on Tuesday evenings to help new members 'solo' quickly and safely. We also hold special flying events at the field and host a monthly club meeting to socialize and share information. These are open to the public and everyone is encouraged to participate.
Membership in MAR/C is approximately 300 members. The club has a large youth membership where kids apply STEM principles to real world problems and have a blast doing it. Many use this as a stepping stone into careers involving science, engineering and of course, aviation. The club also has a Facebook group members can join to discuss flying and share pictures. MAR/C is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Corporation in the State of Washington. MAR/C is a Chartered Club, AMA #1610, in the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA).
All MAR/C members need to be members of the AMA.
MAR/C is governed by a 10-Member Board of Directors in accordance with the MAR/C Bylaws. Club Officers are selected from the Board.
Club Meetings are held in the Lake Washington School District Administration Center, 16250 NE 74th Street, in Redmond Town Center, 98052.
