Happy New Year!   Please read.   More information below

It’s going to be a significant year for the club.  We will break ground on the Field Improvement Project on or near January 22!

We launched the project in the spring of 2022.  It consists of a permanent 20’x20’ storage shed and 42’x12’ charging pavilion at the east end of the pit area.   We need to communicate several things:

  1. There could be a few brief field closures during the construction.  We will get information out to the whole membership by email as promptly as possible when we see this might happen.  The closures would be during the work week, so weekend flying would probably not be affected.

  2. There should only be a brief interruption to electrical power when the power is finally moved from the current outlets to the new locations.  Our current charging shelter might be fenced off briefly during some parts of the construction when trenches might be open for electrical conduit to the new location.

  3. Obviously, we should keep out of fenced construction areas.

  4. During construction, do not park in the eastern part of the parking lot near the Porta-potties so that construction trucks and trailers can back into the site.  Please, NO parking outside the parking lot

  5. There will be opportunities to VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME to make our new buildings useful.  We’ll move some topsoil and re-seed some areas.  We’ll paint the exterior and build work benches and pegboards in the storage shed.   Battery charging shelves will be built under the charging shelter close to the power outlets, and our work benches will move from the old shelter to the new one.
