The Marymoor Radio Control Club (MAR/C) promotes the recreational hobby/sport of radio controlled model aircraft flying. MAR/C manages and maintains the model airfield at Marymoor Park, Redmond, WA, in accordance with a Use Agreement with King County Parks Division.

MAR/C has approximately 300 members.

Flight training and special events are held at the model airfield during the summer. Monthly Club meetings are held to socialize and share information about the hobby. These are open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to participate.

The club also has a Facebook group that members can join to discuss flying and share pictures.

We invite you to join the Marymoor Radio Control (MAR/C) Club, enjoy flying at the field, and participate in club activities.

MAR/C members must hold a current Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) Open membership, or AMA Junior/Youth membership. You may join the AMA online at the AMA website, or apply at a local hobby shop.

BIG NEWS.

If you've been reading the articles in your Model Aviation magazine about the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements for Remote ID, you will be happy to hear that our application for a FRIA at Marymoor RC has been approved.

FRIA stands for Federally Recognized Identification Area.

The FAA treats all RC planes, helicopters, sailplanes, and drones etc. as Unmanned Aerial Systems, or UAS.

Field Closed Wed 9/6, 8-11 am

Sorry, the field will be closed on Wed September 6, from 8 til 11 am while the park does some mowing of areas around the runway as well as off into the bush.

News from the FFFaBBQ !

If you weren't there, we're sorry we missed you. The annual FFFaBBQ, Family Fun Fly and BBQ (pronounced FaB Q?) was a hit! Perfect weather, great attendance, delicious food, thrills, spills, and togetherness.

Special thanks to the parents of the Youth for enabling the kids to fly and learn. This year the Youth organized and executed several of the events, and everything ran so smoothly! They are our future, and it's looking bright. We love events that mix up youth and adults. Youth benefit from mentoring, and adults are reminded how much FUN the hobby can be.

Swap Meet -September 9th

Mark your calendar for September 9th! The Marymoor R/C club will be having an end of summer Swap Meet. The club will be selling a number of donated kits and airplanes including a Hangar 9 Spitfire, PT-17 Steerman, Corsair and Radian Glider. The swap meet will be open to the general public from 9am to12pm and all are welcome to bring airplanes/helis and R/C related items to sell. Swap meet will be located in the grassy area between the parking lot and the flying field. This is a great opportunity to pick up some used airplanes to add to your collection.

Schedule of events:

9am - 10am Set-up for contests and Open Flying.

10am Spot Landing Contest: Participants will have 2 chances to land in the painted circle.

11am Bomb Drop: Pilots will drop bombs at a center target.

Noon Lunch and Jet Airshow and 3D Demonstration flight from 3D Ken

1pm Limbo Contest: Fly your plane under the ribbon.

Mowing Schedule

The field is closed to flying when mowing is in progress. Mowing must take precedence when our volunteer groundskeepers come to the field to mow.
When permitted by weather and availability of our volunteers, mowing is scheduled at these times:

Monday or Tuesday Mowing 11:30 am - 1:00 pm.

Friday Mowing 3:00-5:00 pm

Tuesday weed patrol morning, short interruption

When mowing must happen outside this schedule, we will post a news item on our Home page. We'll also try to send an email to you, but note that our mailing system takes several hours to reach all members.
