The crummy season has set in and we’re hunting for the odd day we can get down to the field to fly between the raindrops. It’s a reminder of how much the hobby means to us, and how important it is for us to help new fliers get to the stage where they, too, will develop a healthy distrust of the accuracy of the forecast and risk a trip to Marymoor ‘just in case’ there’s a dry window for a couple of flights.
With that in mind please start to think about whether you might be able to take the opportunity to help those new fliers and join the club training effort. We have planned a few changes this year to our May-August program, adding flexibility to accommodate student and instructor commitments outside of flying. We have three goals in mind: enable more skilled club members to join in as instructors, work with those busy schedules of everyone involved, and – perhaps most important – graduate more proficient fliers to join the club so they too can enjoy all we have to offer.
E-mail training@mar-c.org with your details if you think you can help in any capacity, or if you’d just like more info. We need flight instructors of course but also general helpers to charge batteries, help with quick mechanical and technical fixes, manage ad-hoc enquiries at the field, and so on.
It really is a lot of fun spending some time building students’ skills while enjoying the field on those glorious PNW summer evenings!
Please do not park or drive on the grass
Hello All,
The days are starting to get longer, and we’ve had some great weather recently. We hope to see you at the field soon getting those fingers and thumbs working again.
Park employees have observed some of our club members driving or parking on the grass between the fence and parking lot. Park management has told us that multiple King County codes prohibit parking or driving on the grass. We’ve also learned that when some of us do, it upsets the employees whose job is to protect the beauty of the park.
So, from now on we must not park on the grass or even drive on it to unload planes before parking in the lot. I recognize this is inconvenient for some of you, but please recognize that Marymoor Park is our host. While we have a multi-year agreement with them, we can’t take the arrangement for granted.
The best approach to keeping our jewel of an RC field has always been to preserve excellent relations with park management and employees that take care of the park. We work with them regularly on many issues such as assuring safety of other park patrons, economical payment agreements, mowing the outfield so we can more easily find our planes, and most recently substantial funding and support for our construction project.
For all that, the least we can do is help them keep the grass healthy by not driving on it. The only exceptions are the few park employees that must drive on the grass to do their jobs, such as collecting our garbage.
Thanks for your attention. Let’s all remain friends with Marymoor Park.
Brian Kelly (BK1)
and your Board of Directors.

We encourage pilots to bring their radios and follow along with setting up Failsafe, flight modes and performing range checks. Several people with first hand knowledge will be there to help with any radio programming.

This months prize will be a 32inch foam Fok.D VII park flyer biplane and a Stanley Storage bin. For the Swap meet, feel free to bring anything your interested in selling.
