AMA vs MARC MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL DATES

As we are all fully aware, AMA recently revised their membership policy so that membership renewal date is now 12 months from the initial date of membership, rather than the prior policy of annual, January 1 to December 31, membership.

This change by AMA is now out of sync with MARC membership policy, which is annual, January 1 to December 31.

The result is that for those members whose AMA renewal date is NOT January 1, but some other date falling between January 1 and December 31, the situation may arise that their AMA membership expires before their MARC membership. Consequently they, and consequently MARC, would therefore not be covered by AMA Liability Insurance.

MARC cannot accept that exposure and therefore we will not issue a Membership card to any new or existing MARC member unless that member as AMA membership in good standing for the entire year for which the MARC membership is sought.

This will result, unfortunately, in the need for some members to buy a two year AMA membership rather than the minimum one year membership.  We regret this imposition upon our members, but we recognize that it would be a one-time additional expense, and therefore, we trust, acceptable.
